Forklifts can lift extremely heavy objects because they have a counterweight on the back of the lift truck. A small lift truck that can carry 1800 kilograms weighs approximately 4000 kilograms, which is equivalent to two full-size pickup trucks. The largest forklifts could have up to 36,000 kilograms of lifting capacity.

Considerations
There are many safety concerns involved in utilizing a lift truck. When driving down a ramp, travel in reverse. If the load is bulky and interferes with vision, haul it in reverse.
